General Manager – Sales & Team Scheduling (Roller Shutter / Industrial Doors)

Stockport (UK Travel when required)

Salary: £30,000 – £60,000 per year (depending on experience) + Company Car

About the Role

Our client is a long-established and respected company with over
30 years of experience
in the
roller shutter and security door industry
, specialising in the
manufacture, installation, service, and repair
of roller shutters, security doors, and grilles.

They are now seeking an experienced
General Manager
to oversee
sales, scheduling, and operations
, working closely with the company directors to ensure smooth day-to-day management and continued business growth.

This is a hands-on role that combines
team management, customer relations, and operational oversight
. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the roller shutter or industrial door industry and a proactive, solutions-driven approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate multiple installation and service teams nationwide
  • Oversee scheduling and ensure projects are delivered efficiently and on time
  • Liaise with customers, providing quotes, surveys, and technical advice
  • Conduct site visits and surveys as required (UK-wide travel)
  • Support the sales function and help generate new business opportunities
  • Work closely with directors on production planning, workflow, and operations
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency
  • Handle day-to-day problem-solving and ensure smooth communication between office, engineers, and clients
  • Use office and job management software to track progress, plan workloads, and manage customer information

Requirements

  • Minimum
    5 years' experience
    within the
    roller shutter or industrial door industry
  • Proven experience managing teams or coordinating engineers
  • Strong
    sales background
    and customer-facing communication skills
  • Confident using
    Microsoft Office, Excel, and business/job tracking software
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills
  • Full, clean
    UK driving licence
    (required)
  • Willingness to
    travel nationwide
    for site visits and meetings

Desirable Skills

  • Experience in
    manufacturing, production planning, or technical sales
  • Ability to contribute ideas to improve operations and marketing strategy
  • Understanding of a wide range of security and industrial door systems, including:
  • Roller shutters
  • Steel doors
  • Sectional doors
  • Loading bays
  • Retractable grilles
