This role plays a vital support role within Mainmark's Finance team, assisting in the preparation of financial statements, budgets, and tax returns, among other responsibilities. You will be tasked with managing the day-to-day accounting activities such as processing invoices, handling accounts payable and receivable, reconciling bank statements, and maintaining financial records with accuracy and compliance. Working under the supervision of the Finance Lead you will be responsible for ensuring that Mainmark's financial operations run smoothly and efficiently, providing critical data that inform strategic decision-making and financial planning.

What you can expect to get involved in

  • Prepare and process financial documents, including invoices, bills, reconciliations and accounts payable/receivable transactions
  • Support the preparation of periodic financial reports and provide relevant data to the management team
  • Assist the finance department and accountants with tasks such as budget allocation, record maintenance and financial statement preparation
  • Organise and post financial documents accurately to appropriate accounts
  • Contribute to the timely and compliant submission of VAT and tax returns, as well as the settlement of related liabilities
  • Administer monthly payroll processing in accordance with company policies and statutory requirements
  • Maintain and update the Fixed Asset Register, ensuring accurate tracking and reporting of assets

Skills or Qualifications you will have

  • Finance qualifications / Degree, AAT
  • Proven experience of balance sheet account preparation
  • Good understanding of budgetary principles
  • Manage a variety of tasks to meet competing deadlines
  • Previous experience of using Xero
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Analytical thinking, able to analyse information received
