Job Introduction

The Fleet Workshop Manager plays a vital role in the functioning of our Fleet department. The Fleet Workshop Manager ensures vehicles are Pre-delivery Inspected to manufacturing standard, roadworthy, and meet customer expectations, supporting the Pentagon Group's reputation for excellence.

Reporting Structure

  • Reports To: Aftersales Manager
  • Responsible For: Workshop Technicians in conjunction with Aftersales Manager
  • Key Relationships:

Head of Fulfilment, Aftersales Manager, Workshop Technicians, Parts Department, Colleagues within the Fulfilment and Corporate Fleet departments.

Main Purpose of the Role

  • Drive continuous improvement in workshop efficiency and performance.
  • Ensure fleet targets are met through effective planning and execution.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for all technical queries, providing clear and accurate feedback.
  • Manage all operational aspects of the corporate fleet workshop to ensure smooth day-to-day running.
  • Identify and escalate issues or concerns promptly to the Aftersales Manager

Key Responsibilities

Workshop Operations

  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised work area.
  • Use workshop equipment and tools responsibly, reporting any defects or issues.
  • Follow all workshop health & safety procedures, working safely at all times.
  • Contribute to overall workshop efficiency and team targets.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure effective workflow and customer satisfaction.

Cost & Efficiency

  • Accurately log labour time and parts usage for each job.
  • Work efficiently to minimise vehicle downtime and improve turnaround times.
  • Avoid unnecessary waste of materials and consumables.

    Minimise rework and warranty claims by performing high-quality, right-first-time repairs.

Key Performance Objectives

  • Complete jobs within allocated times to dealership and manufacturer standards.
  • Maintain high levels of first-time fix rates and minimise customer returns.
  • Ensure accurate record-keeping and documentation for all work completed.
  • Supervise and support workshop technicians in their daily activities.
  • Oversee workshop scheduling and workload allocation.
  • Review and approve job cards to ensure accuracy and compliance.
  • Ensure adherence to warranty processes and procedures.
  • Manage and maintain workshop tools, machinery, and equipment.
  • Plan and coordinate technician holiday schedules to balance operational needs.
  • Monitor and manage training progress and development for technicians.
  • Coordinate and support off-site technician assignments.
  • Oversee and organise both external and in-group repair activities.
  • Collaborate with the parts department to streamline operations and ensure efficient workflow.
  • Support a clean, safe, and productive workshop environment.
  • Promote the Pentagon Group core values through professional conduct and service quality
  • Contribute positively to workshop team culture and performance.
  • Demonstrate strong attention to detail and pride in vehicle presentation.

Perform any additional tasks reasonably required by senior managers that align with the business goals and fall within your capability.
