Brief Description

Our client is entering a period of significant growth and we're seeking a dependable, skilled Gold or Black Card Electrician with proven commercial installation experience to join their expanding team. This is a subcontractor-based role with strong potential to transition into full-time employment for the right candidate.

You'll be working in critical data centre environments across the UK, supporting a wide range of commercial projects including new installations, refurbishments, routine maintenance, and electrical testing.

The role demands flexibility, self-motivation, and a proactive approach—ideal for someone who thrives on variety, early starts, and nationwide travel.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install and maintain commercial electrical systems
  • Perform fault finding, testing, and inspections
  • Read and interpret technical drawings
  • Ensure compliance with safety regulations
  • Communicate effectively with site teams and clients
  • Travel to UK-wide sites and adapt to varied schedules

What you'll need

Essential Requirements

  • ECS Gold or Black Card (Approved Electrician)
  • Strong background in commercial electrical installations
  • Solid understanding of BS7671 wiring regulations
  • Able to work independently and within small teams
  • Willingness to travel nationwide, with early starts and overnight stays
  • Full UK driving licence

Desirable Qualifications

  • 2391 or equivalent testing & inspection certification
  • IPAF, PASMA, or CSCS accreditation
  • Experience supervising apprentices or small site teams
  • Managerial / Leadership skills

You will be an independent worker who is able to contract with competence and confidence on our behalf. You will also have the knowledge, tools and transport to service client requirements and the ability to work on your own initiative.
