ERP Support Technician

You will receive a competitive salary, plus excellent benefits. As an ERP Support Technician, you will report into the ERP System Manager and play an important part in the IT department.

Main duties will be:

• Primary: To provide first-line technical and functional support for the SAP Business One ERP system, ensuring users can operate effectively within the system. The post holder will assist in troubleshooting issues, maintaining system data integrity, supporting upgrades, and coordinating with external SAP support partners when required.
• Secondary: Provide general assistance to IT Manager providing cover for business-critical functions during absence and leave. Duties may include password resets, software installations, and hardware malfunctions. Log, track, and escalate unresolved issues to 2nd line support or relevant IT teams. Monitor IT systems and report issues or potential concerns, ensuring minimal downtime. Provide basic troubleshooting and installation support for software applications and hardware devices (e.g., laptops, printers, phones). Assist in creating and managing user accounts, email setups, and permissions.

Experience:

Essential:

• Experience providing basic IT or application support in a business environment
• Exposure to ERP, CRM, or accounting systems (e.g., SAP B1, SAP ECC, Syspro)
• Experience with data entry, reporting, or troubleshooting system issues
• Familiarity with helpdesk/ticketing systems

Desirable:

• Previous experience supporting or using SAP Business One
• Understanding of business processes (finance, inventory, purchasing, sales, reporting)
• Experience liaising with third-party vendors or consultants

Knowledge and Skills:

Essential:

• Basic understanding of ERP system concepts and data flows
• Strong general IT literacy (Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, Networking, VPN)
• Ability to diagnose and resolve common application or user issues
• Understanding of databases (e.g., SQL basics, data queries)
• Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities
• Good documentation and record-keeping practices

Desirable:

• Basic SQL query writing and database management knowledge
• Familiarity with SAP Business One modules and configuration
• Understanding of reporting tools (e.g., Crystal Reports, Power BI)
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office 365, Active Directory, and VPN setups

Qualifications:

Essential:

• GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
• Relevant IT or business systems qualification
• Evidence of ongoing professional development in IT or ERP systems

Desirable:

• Foundation certification or introductory training in SAP Business One
• Degree or higher qualification in IT, Business Information Systems, or a related field

Additional Requirements:

• Willingness to undertake SAP B1 training and certification as required
• Travel between company sites will be necessary
• Out of hours "on call" rota for emergency support
• Flexibility to work outside standard hours during system upgrades or maintenance
• Fully on-site role
