Security Analyst / Security Engineer – Microsoft & Cyber Essentials

£40–50K (DOE)

Permanent, full-time

This is an opportunity to join an award-winning, UK-based MSP with 30+ years' heritage, over 600 customers and a growing Microsoft-led security & cloud practice.

You'll be part of a hands-on security engineering team helping customers build secure, compliant modern workplace environments across M365, Intune and Defender with proactive services like Cyber Essentials and monitoring at the core.

This isn't a SOC role buried in alerts. It's a customer-facing, technically deep role owning delivery, shaping process, working across sectors and helping elevate security across the business.

The Role

  • Monitor and respond to security alerts, incidents and vulnerabilities.
  • Deliver Cyber Essentials & Cyber Essentials Plus engagements and renewals.
  • Deploy and support Microsoft 365 Security, Intune and Defender solutions.
  • Assist with vulnerability management and remediation across customer estates.
  • Work with platforms like Mimecast, SentinelOne, Sophos and Microsoft Security & Compliance Centre.
  • Act as 2nd / 3rd line escalation and drive root cause investigations.
  • Collaborate with customers on audits, compliance and proactive improvement.

What we're Looking For

Must-Haves:

  • Experience in an MSP/IT services environment OR large enterprise experience.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft 365, Intune and Defender.
  • Hands-on with security monitoring tools (EDR/MDR/AV/mail gateway).
  • Understanding of Cyber Essentials / CE+ processes or comparable frameworks.
  • Ability to interpret security logs, trace incidents, perform root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent communicator – able to engage with customers and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Enjoys variety, multi-sector customer work and the opportunity to shape a growing team.

Desirable:

  • Experience with regulatory/compliance frameworks.
  • Certifications such as Network+ / Security+ / SSCP / Microsoft security certs.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Purview, Sentinel, CoPilot or other AI/data governance tooling.
  • Prior exposure to SentinelOne, Sophos or similar EDR platforms.
