Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated Housing Association Support Worker to assist residents and manage housing-related issues within our community. This role involves providing support services, ensuring compliance with housing regulations, and facilitating effective communication between tenants and property management. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal skills, knowledge of landlord-tenant law, and experience in social work or property management. This is a paid position committed to fostering safe, equitable, and well-managed housing environments.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a primary point of contact for residents, addressing concerns and providing support related to housing stability and well-being
  • Assist tenants with lease agreements, rent payments, and understanding their rights under Fair Housing regulations
  • Conduct crisis intervention and crisis management when necessary to ensure resident safety and resolve urgent issues
  • Apply negotiation skills to mediate disputes between tenants and landlords or property management
  • Ensure compliance with LIHTC, Section 8, and other affordable housing programs' guidelines
  • Maintain accurate records using property management software such as Yardi or OneSite
  • Collaborate with social workers, addiction counselors, and other service providers to support residents facing challenges such as addiction or mental health issues
  • Educate tenants on landlord-tenant law and fair housing practices to promote a respectful community environment
  • Support property management in lease renewals, inspections, and adherence to regulatory standards

Requirements

  • Proven experience or familiarity with LIHTC, Section 8, landlord-tenant law, and fair housing regulations
  • Strong negotiation, crisis intervention, and crisis management skills
  • Knowledge of property management systems such as Yardi or OneSite is preferred
  • Background in social work or related fields such as social services or addiction counseling is advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to handle sensitive situations professionally
  • Ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously while maintaining attention to detail
  • Experience in motivational interviewing techniques is a plus
  • Demonstrated understanding of Section 8 housing programs and affordable housing policies
