Job Title: Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist

Location: York YO23

Salary: £47,810 – £54,710 per annum DOE (Pro Rata) + £3,000 Welcome Bonus (T&Cs apply)

Hours: 28 hours per week

Role Overview:

We are seeking a Senior Specialist Speech and Language Therapist (SaLT) to provide professional leadership within a multidisciplinary rehabilitation team. This role involves delivering specialist assessment and interventions for adults with acquired brain injury (ABI) and contributing to service development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work autonomously as a speech and language therapist within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Assess how a person's communication impacts daily life and provide appropriate interventions.
  • Collaborate with service users and their social networks to overcome communication barriers.
  • Develop communication management plans and rehabilitation strategies, seeking specialist assessments as required.
  • Provide training to staff and service users' social networks.
  • Contribute to service and organisational development.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Speech and Language Therapy.
  • Registered with the HCPC.
  • Achieved Dysphagia Competencies.
  • Specialist knowledge of SaLT models and interventions in ABI (e.g., social communication, cognitive communication, communication partner training).
  • Ability to manage complex dysphagia within an adult neurology caseload.
  • Minimum 4 years qualified experience with complex case management.
