We are seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the daily operations of our neighbourhood craft beer and whisky bar, and lead our small, but dedicated team, starting from January 2026.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in hospitality, with a focus on quality drinks offerings, with beer and whisky experience being a bonus. This is a customer facing role, so a bright personality is a must. We are also looking to improve our food offering, so experience in a restaurant environment would also help.

This role would also suit an experience Assistant Manager looking to take the next step in their career as full training will be given.

Who are we?

The Belfry is part of an independently owned group of (currently two) pubs. We took over the premises in early 2024, and have quickly turned it into one of Edinburgh's most popular whisky bars, with a strong local following. With the King's Theatre reopening Spring 2026, we are looking to grow the business even more, and need an experienced manager to help us take it forward. Working closely with the owner, we are looking for someone to make their mark on the pub, helping bring the community closer together while attracting new customers from further afield.

Responsibilities include;

  • Lead and supervise all operational aspects of the venue, including day to day operations, orders, rotas, reporting and more.
  • Helping organise and plan events, tastings, tap takeovers and more.
  • Oversee staff recruitment, training, and performance management to foster a motivated and efficient team.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety regulations and maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene throughout the premises.
  • Shift work as required.

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: £29,000.00-£36,000.00 per year
