Job Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Buyer to join our steel fabrication group of companies . The successful candidate will be responsible for sourcing and purchasing goods and services, managing supplier relationships, and ensuring the timely delivery of materials to support our operational needs. This role requires a strong understanding of supply chain processes, negotiation skills, and the experience to optimise procurement activities and contribute to the organisation's overall efficiency.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and evaluate potential suppliers, ensuring quality standards and delivery timelines are met
  • Negotiate prices, terms, and contracts with suppliers to secure favourable agreements , making sure all procurement is within the budget.

  • Manage purchase orders and matching to purchase invoices, dealing with any query's.
  • Coordinate with colleagues to ensure procurement needs based on production schedules and demand forecasts are met.
  • Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, supplier performance, and contractual obligations
  • Booking in company vehicles to maintain Operators license and general maintenance of company vehicles.
  • Booking all plant hire for site.
  • Booking plant & machinery maintenance and keeping records up to date.
  • Booking training required and keeping all records up to date.

Skills

  • Strong negotiation skills with a proven track record of securing advantageous terms

  • Knowledge of logistics, supply chain management, and merchandising principles

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

  • Effective communication skills to liaise confidently with suppliers and colleagues
  • Quality Management experience would be an advantage.
