Location: London Gateway (HQ) with UK travel
Department: Logistics
Hours: Monday–Friday, 09:00–17:00 (additional hours as required)
Reports to: Logistics Director
About the Role
We are looking for a highly experienced HSE & Compliance Manager to lead and strengthen our Health, Safety, Environment, and Compliance function across all Ziegler UK branches. This is a key leadership role responsible for developing robust HSE systems, embedding a proactive safety culture, and ensuring full regulatory compliance across our logistics operations.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development and implementation of HSE and Compliance policies, procedures, and management systems.
- Ensure company-wide adherence to all relevant UK and international health, safety, environmental, and compliance legislation.
- Conduct risk assessments, inspections, and audits, identifying hazards and recommending effective corrective actions.
- Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses, ensuring accurate reporting and preventative measures.
- Deliver HSE training and support to employees and management, strengthening safety awareness and behaviours.
- Track and report HSE performance metrics and provide clear insights to senior management.
- Manage environmental programs, sustainability initiatives, and waste/pollution controls.
- Maintain strong relationships with regulators, auditors, and external stakeholders.
- Oversee the Compliance and Training teams, providing leadership, coaching, and development.
- Support cross-functional collaboration to maintain consistent safety and compliance standards across sites.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives and support automation and strategic projects.
About You
Essential Experience & Skills
- Minimum 3 years' experience in an HSE or Compliance management role.
- Strong background in logistics, warehousing, transport, or supply chain operations.
- Proven experience in risk assessments, incident investigation, and regulatory compliance.
- Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple sites and priorities.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities, with a passion for safety culture development.
- Solid understanding of HSE legislation, standards, and best practices.
Desirable Qualifications
- NEBOSH General Certificate or Diploma.
- IOSH Managing Safely or CMIOSH status.
- ISO 45001 or ISO 14001 Lead Auditor qualifications.
- Additional certifications in transport safety, ADR/IATA, or environmental compliance.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and warehouse management systems.
