From our Mayfair and Leeds offices, we advise ultra-high-net-worth individuals, founders, and institutions across immigration, corporate, and medical-regulatory law.

We are seeking a SRA-admitted solicitor to act as our Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and Compliance Officer for Finance (COFA) whilst leading the legal direction of the firm as it scales in the UK and internationally.

The Role

  • Serve as the firm's Principal Solicitor / Compliance Officer ensuring full SRA and AML compliance.
  • Supervise and mentor our internal team (immigration, corporate, and medical divisions).
  • Oversee professional indemnity insurance, client-account governance, and conflict-checking systems.
  • Review and sign-off client matters involving reserved legal activities.
  • Advise the board on regulatory, risk, and professional-ethics strategy.
  • Collaborate across the wider VAYNE Global network on cross-border and regulated-sector projects (MHRA, ESA, UAE).

Requirements

  • Solicitor of England & Wales in good standing with at least 5 years PQE.
  • Demonstrable knowledge of SRA Standards & Regulations, AML, and client-care obligations.
  • Experience in one or more of: corporate / commercial, immigration, or medical / healthcare regulation.
  • Ability to manage compliance systems for a multi-disciplinary practice.
  • Comfortable working part-time or hybrid with remote support staff.

  • Are you currently admitted as a Solicitor of England and Wales with the SRA and in good standing?
  • Are you comfortable being formally listed with the SRA as our Compliance Officer for Legal Practice (COLP) and for Finance and Administration (COFA)?
  • Are you able to dedicate at least 1–2 days per week (hybrid or remote) to compliance oversight and sign-off responsibilities?
  • Are you familiar with SRA Standards and Regulations and the Money Laundering Regulations 2017?
  • Have you ever been subject to disciplinary action by the SRA or any other regulator?
  • Have you previously acted as a COLP, COFA, or Compliance Officer for an SRA-regulated law firm?
  • Have you ever led or contributed to SRA compliance audits, AML reviews, or PII renewals?
  • Would you be open to a long-term retainer (12-month renewable) with the option to expand into an equity or board role as the firm scales?
