Job Purpose:

We are seeking a reliable and organised
Trainee Freight Agent
to join our client's team. The successful candidate will be responsible for receiving, handling, and dispatching client freight using road, air, and sea shipping methods. You will play a key role in ensuring all freight is processed accurately and reaches its destination safely and on time.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Process and manage all freight accurately using Optima WMS
  • Plan and organise deliveries and shipments to meet deadlines
  • Maintain detailed records of all deliveries and shipments
  • Ensure correct segregation and documentation of dangerous goods
  • Provide daily freight reports to clients
  • Raise purchase orders using Microsoft Dynamics AX
  • Safely load and unload vehicles, racking, and containers
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment

Essential Qualifications and Skills:

  • Numerate and literate
  • Computer literate with strong attention to detail
  • Good organisational and time management skills
  • Effective communication and problem-solving abilities
  • Ability to deliver excellent customer service
  • Manual handling competence

Desirable Skills and Experience:

  • Experience operating pivot-steer and counterbalance forklifts
  • Previous warehouse or logistics experience
  • Knowledge of dangerous goods handling by sea
  • Full UK driving licence

Health, Safety, Security, Environment and Quality:

  • Work in partnership with the HSE department to ensure continuous improvement of safety and environmental performance
  • Report any incidents or breaches of policy to your line manager
  • Fully support the client's Stop the Job policy and intervene proactively when unsafe acts or conditions are observed
  • Adhere to the client's integrated management system, maintaining document control and contributing to process improvements
