Overview

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Care Assistant to provide high-quality care and support to residents in a long-term care or assisted living environment. The ideal candidate will have experience working with elderly individuals, those with disabilities, or patients requiring specialized memory care. This role involves assisting residents with daily activities, monitoring health status, and ensuring a safe, comfortable environment. Candidates should possess strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and a genuine desire to improve the lives of those under their care.

Duties

  • Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living , including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
  • Monitor and record vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and respiration rates
  • Administer medications in accordance with care plans and HIPAA regulations
  • Support residents with memory care needs, including dementia and Alzheimer's care
  • Prepare nutritious meals and assist with feeding as needed
  • Maintain accurate documentation of patient observations and care activities
  • Implement individualized care plans tailored to each resident's needs
  • Operate assistive devices such as Hoyer lifts and resident lifts safely
  • Ensure cleanliness of residents' rooms and common areas through proper cleaning procedures
  • Respond promptly to emergency situations with appropriate first aid or CPR when necessary
  • Collaborate with healthcare professionals, social workers, and family members to optimize resident well-being
  • Uphold privacy standards and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA guidelines

Skills

  • Proven experience in senior care, home health, hospice, or long-term care settings
  • Knowledge of assisted living procedures and dementia or Alzheimer's care techniques
  • Strong patient observation skills to identify changes in condition or behavior
  • Ability to assist with ADLs and provide compassionate caregiving support
  • Familiarity with medication administration protocols and vital signs monitoring
  • Experience working with individuals who have developmental disabilities or autism spectrum disorders is a plus
  • Ability to lift heavy loads safely using equipment such as Hoyer lifts; physical stamina for long shifts required
  • Excellent communication skills for effective interaction with residents, families, and team members
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations ensuring confidentiality of patient information
  • CPR and First Aid certification preferred; willingness to obtain if not already certified
  • Compassionate attitude combined with patience, empathy, and respect for residents' dignity
