The Role: Flood & Coastal Services Delivery Director
We are seeking an experienced
Delivery Director
to lead and grow our portfolio of services for
local authorities
,
Lead Local Flood Authorities (LLFAs)
, and other
risk management authorities
. Reporting to the Director of Delivery for Flood and Coastal Services, you will drive strategic performance and technical excellence across a range of
Flood and Coastal Erosion Risk Management (FCERM)
projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee FCERM projects for local authorities and water companies.
- Act as Project Director, ensuring delivery to financial, quality, and compliance targets.
- Develop and implement business plans and proposals for local authority clients.
- Serve as Technical Authority for Surface Water Management Plans, Local Flood Risk Management Strategies, and Business Case development.
- Provide expert consultancy to LLFAs on statutory planning, land drainage consents, and flood investigations.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including the Environment Agency, Natural Resources Wales, and developers.
- Manage contract performance across frameworks, ensuring strategic alignment and resource optimisation.
- Mentor and inspire teams to deliver excellence in local flood risk management.
What We're Looking For:
- Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Science, Geography, or related discipline.
- Chartered (ideally Fellow) member of CIWEM, ICE, or similar professional body.
- Proven experience working with or within LLFAs and/or regulated water companies.
- Strong background in flood risk management, surface water management, and FCERM project delivery.
- Skilled in contract management, stakeholder engagement, and commercial delivery.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Demonstrated success in technical oversight and quality assurance.
