John George is a family run business that has been trading since 1725. The company provides nails, woodscrews, bolts & nuts, fixings & fastenings, fencing, sealants, ironmongery and building products to trade customers such as builders merchants, fencing suppliers, roofing merchants and DIY outlets.

Over the years John George has developed a number of brands to meet the needs of a technologically advancing building and DIY trade. These include Super Drive, Exocet, Fence-Pro, Gate-Pro, Timberfast and Impact.

Our customers benefit from a fast, efficient nationwide service delivered from our own depots, on our own vehicles. This gives us the flexibility to meet the requirements of our customers, large and small.

We are seeking a well educated, Area Sales Manager, who is bright, experienced, ambitious and keen to drive our business to be even better, and who can take real ownership of a geographical sales area.

We are a close knit team, who are all passionate about John George, our products and the value we bring to our customers. We have a wealth of experience whilst also being adaptable to the changing requirements of our market places. Our team will offer great support but you must also be able to work autonomously to maximise your full potential.

  • To be able to understand, prioritise and fulfil the needs of our varied customer base;
  • To work with an Internal Sales Representative to take full responsibility for the growth of sales and profit within a geographic area;
  • To maximise sales and profitability within existing customers whilst identifying opportunities outside our existing contacts;
  • To be able to act decisively with justification on behalf of the company;
  • To be able to negotiate effectively at all levels;
  • To demonstrate an attitude of accountability for all areas of work and activities undertaken;

Support the Managing Director to:

  • Meet any targets set in relation to growth of sales;
  • Maximise sales and profit opportunities within potential new ranges of product;
  • Generate campaigns suitable for the existing and potential customer base
