Are you passionate about making a real difference in the lives of children in care? Do you have the drive to champion inclusive education and help learners thrive?

We're looking for a committed and experienced education professional to join Rotherham's Virtual School as an Early Years and Primary Education Adviser. You'll work closely with our Virtual School Headteacher to improve outcomes for children in care aged 0–11, ensuring they receive high-quality education and the support they need to flourish academically, socially, and emotionally. You'll work with professionals across education, health and social care, and be a key voice in making sure these children are seen, heard and supported. Making sure that they receive the best education, that their plans are ambitious, meaningful, and that they're getting the support they need to succeed.

You'll manage a caseload, lead Personal Education Plan meetings, and work with schools, carers, and professionals to remove barriers to learning. You'll also promote trauma-informed and attachment-aware practices across early years and primary settings.

What we're looking for:

• Someone who's child-focused, ambitious and ready to make a difference.
• Commitment to inclusion, and your ability to work with others to drive progress and raise attainment.
• Experience working with children in care or other vulnerable groups
• Strong knowledge of Early Years and Primary education
• Understanding of SEND and inclusive strategies
• Confidence in leading multi-agency meetings and casework

Until 31st March 2026 existing employees paid at Band D and above are subject to a temporary pay reduction of 1.15% spread out by means of a monthly deduction from each pay period over the full financial year. In recognition of implementing this temporary measure, those who experience a pay reduction will be awarded three additional days leave (pro rata for part-time). The Council is in consultation with trade unions regarding continuation of any agreement from 1st April 2026.
