PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £29,000 - £38,067 + London Weighting depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE
  • To effectively contract and schedule resources including staff, facilities and equipment in accordance with production and transmission requirements, conditions of service and objectives of the operational areas. 
  • Working closely with the News Content editors and planners in providing the efficient and effective management and control of all craft operations involved in the delivery of BBC content for Radio, TV and Digital. 
  • To support and coordinate the workload of Resource Schedulers to deliver standardized procedures and ways of working consistent across outputs, where required.

BBC Media Operations is at the heart of teams delivering incredible content across all BBC platforms for all audiences. Comprising around nine hundred people, it manages the craft and production operations for the BBC's news, radio, and some sport services across London, Salford, and Birmingham - capturing, editing, and producing our output 24x7 for TV, radio, and digital platforms. 

The Planning and Delivery team is central to managing the operational staffing and facilities that go into making some amazing and important content for our audiences. Everything from Royal events to Sports tournaments and Radio Drama, BBC Music Roadshows we have it covered. 

YOUR KEY RESPONSIBILITIES AND IMPACT:

    · Work closely with News Content Production team, Editors and Planners teams to help provide crewing  and editing solutions when conflicts occur, ensure appropriate teams are always booked and accommodate customer driven name requests if appropriate..
    · Monitor requirements in order to identify schedule changes or addition requirements and assess any continuity issues. Communicate plans & revisions regularly to all stakeholders. 
    · Provide the main point of contact to key members of the production team; including craft staff team and Freelance technical crew. Build up and maintain good relationships with all contacts through facilitating regular dialogue, discussion and sharing of ideas. 
    · Managing contracting of casual and freelance staff and ensuring that casual and freelance staff are dealt with in a professional manner.
    · Design and improve scheduling and reporting procedures that increase efficiency or service levels.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

ESSENTIAL CRITERIA:

● Strong communication and interpersonal skills with a proven ability to develop maintain and enhance relationships with a variety of internal and external contacts.
● Has an excellent knowledge of, or ability to learn about, the BBC terms and conditions, policies and Working Time Directive to enable support effective Resource Scheduling and deployments.
●  Sound knowledge and experience of a scheduling system, together with well-developed IT skills.
●  Experience working in a News environment, good general knowledge of programme making techniques and  detailed knowledge of techniques related to own area of responsibility.
● Ability to effectively balance conflicting priorities whilst under pressure and to work on site as required.
