Production Operator

Victorian Sliders, the UK's largest PVCu manufacturer of sliding sash windows, is seeking a Production Operator to join our team on a full-time, 12 month temporary contract basis. The ideal candidate will support the efficient and high-quality manufacture of windows by operating machinery, assembling components, and following production processes to meet daily targets. The role requires attention to detail, adherence to health and safety standards, and a commitment to maintaining the high standards of craftsmanship associated with Victorian Sliders products.
Main Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operate production line machinery and tools safely and efficiently to manufacture sash windows in accordance with company standards.
- Assemble window components including frames, sashes, glazing, and hardware to precise specifications.
- Carry out quality checks at various stages of production to ensure all products meet required quality and safety standards.
- Follow detailed work instructions, technical drawings, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organized workspace in line with health and safety regulations.
- Report any defects, equipment issues, or safety concerns to a team leader or supervisor promptly.
- Meet hourly and daily production targets while maintaining high attention to detail and product accuracy.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to identify process improvements and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Support loading and unloading of materials as required, and ensure accurate labelling and storage of finished products.
- Participate in regular training and toolbox talks to stay compliant with company procedures and health & safety updates
Desirable:
- Previous experience in a manufacturing, assembly, or production environment.
- Experience working with hand tools, power tools, or machinery.
- Forklift licence or other relevant certifications (e.g., Manual Handling, Health & Safety).
- Knowledge of window or glazing products, or experience in the fenestration industry
Essential:
- Basic understanding of spoken English
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced, high-volume production environment.
- Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently or as part of a team.
- Basic problem-solving skills and the ability to identify and report faults.
- Ability to follow health and safety procedures and work instructions precisely.
- Hardworking and committed to maintaining high standards of workmanship.
- Dependable and trustworthy, with a strong sense of responsibility and a good work ethic.
- Strong attention to detail to ensure consistent quality and accuracy in work.
- Flexible and adaptable to changing production demands or tasks.
- Takes pride in producing quality work and contributing to customer satisfaction.
- Respectful of colleagues and promotes a cooperative working environment.
