We're supporting a large UK organisation in hiring an experienced
Head of Content Design
for a 13-month maternity cover. This is a senior leadership role overseeing a growing content function, driving content strategy, and leading the transition from legacy platforms to new digital systems.

This role sits at the intersection of content, customer experience and digital transformation - ideal for an established content leader who thrives in fast-paced, multi-stakeholder environments.

The Role

As Head of Content Design, you will:

  • Lead and develop a multidisciplinary Content Design team, championing best practice and content excellence across the organisation.
  • Oversee a major content transition project, moving content from legacy systems to new platforms and CMS environments.
  • Shape and drive the content strategy, ensuring content supports wider customer and business objectives.
  • Establish effective content operations, workflows and governance frameworks that enable consistent, scalable content creation.
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders across digital, service design, brand, communications and product.
  • Act as the senior content authority - advocating for user-centred content, accessibility and evidence-based decision making.
  • Represent the organisation within the broader content community - including government content networks.

Key Experience Needed

  • Strong track record leading content design teams in complex, multi-disciplinary environments.
  • Demonstrable experience delivering user-centred content across multiple channels.
  • Experienced working with CMS platforms (Drupal or Adobe preferred).
  • Deep stakeholder management ability - influencing, aligning and resolving challenges.
  • Background in Agile delivery and digital transformation.
  • Understanding of SEO fundamentals (knowledge of FCA compliance is a bonus).
