We're working with a central government department to hire a
Content Designer
on a contract basis. You'll help teams across government produce clear, user-focused content that meets the Service Standard and supports high-quality public services.

What you'll do:

  • Develop, refine, and manage content grounded in user needs, using research, analytics, and feedback.
  • Translate insights into content strategies, user stories, and actionable publishing plans.
  • Partner with stakeholders, subject matter experts, and communities of practice across government to ensure content is accurate and effective.
  • Contribute actively to the GDS and wider cross-government content community.
  • Identify opportunities to improve processes and ways of working, helping teams work more efficiently.
  • Manage competing priorities and deliver work across multiple projects in a flexible, responsive way.

About you:

  • Experienced in user-centred content design and publishing, including working with CMS platforms.
  • Skilled at applying analytics, research, and user feedback to guide content decisions.
  • Confident in engaging with stakeholders and balancing multiple projects and priorities.
  • Proactive in improving processes, sharing best practices, and raising standards across teams.
