Due to the upcoming maternity leave an exciting opportunity has arisen for an Estate Manager to join the Wiltshire and Dorset Let Estate team to lead on the management of Supporting and Core let estate across the Purbeck and Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole (BCP) Portfolios.
The Estate Manager will be a key member of the property leadership teams as plans are drawn up to set the priorities for the new Strategy. With the BCP portfolio leading for Access and Purbeck continuing its impressive delivery for Nature.
What it's like to work here:At the National Trust, we love places. We look after more land than any other private landowner. With over 254,000 hectares of countryside and tens of thousands of buildings, our estate is large and complex, incorporating agricultural holdings, residential property and commercial premises. We take care of some of the nation's most treasured landscapes and protecting their health, beauty and value is at the core of our ten-year strategy. As an Estate Manager, you'll be working with a wide range of conservation and heritage professionals along with our tenants and other stakeholders to deliver the modern, progressive land management approach we need to do this.
The management of our let estate property, together with the relationships we have with our tenants, underpins our national, circa £50m annual rental income and is absolutely essential to the delivery of our land and property conservation work. We've recently redefined our strategy, have a new Delivery Plan and made some revolutionary changes to significantly improve how we carry out our work in Estate Management, and this role is an important part of this.
The National Trust is the UK's biggest private landowner and you will support with the maintenance and management of the properties it owns and protects.
What you'll be doing:You'll be involved in delivering a variety of work, which on a day to day basis will include agricultural and commercial lettings and engaging directly with Property Leadership Teams. Other work includes negotiations; access rights and boundary disputes; work with restrictive covenants; valuations; and acquisitions and disposals. Most importantly, we need you to be an effective and convincing champion of best practice who brings new thinking and novel approaches to whatever work you turn your hand to. This is essential to deliver the National trust Strategy for restoring nature on a landscape scale to ensure nature, beauty and history is here for everyone, for ever.
As a senior representative of the Estate Management team on your portfolios, you'll bring a range of skills to ensure we safeguard and effectively manage our built assets and interests in land. You'll lead on creating and delivering our Strategic Estate Management plans, being accountable for compliance and financial performance across the let estate and provide insightful advice, excellent client care, and considerate stakeholder management to help our properties achieve sustainable, forward thinking approaches to managing and conserving our assets.
What we're looking for:
To be successful in this role you will have:
In-depth knowledge of land use, agriculture, asset management, land management, environmental issues, conservation and sustainable development and how that translates to National Trust Strategy
