Materials Testing Technician

Location: Banbury

Employment type: Temp to perm

About the Role

We are seeking a Materials Testing Technician to join our growing laboratory team, specialising in asphalt, concrete, and soil testing. This is a hands-on role ideal for someone with a strong attention to detail, practical problem-solving skills, and an interest in construction materials and quality control.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out testing of asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and soils to relevant British/European standards (BS/EN).
  • Prepare, sample, and test materials in both laboratory and site environments.
  • Accurately record, analyse, and report test results.
  • Maintain calibration and cleanliness of testing equipment.
  • Follow all quality assurance and health & safety procedures.
  • Support senior technicians and engineers with project testing requirements.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in a materials testing laboratory (asphalt, concrete, or soils) preferred but not essential — full training can be provided.
  • Good understanding of BS EN and UKAS testing procedures advantageous.
  • Full UK driving licence (site work may be required).
  • Strong attention to detail, reliability, and a proactive attitude.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Pay: £16.00-£20.00 per hour

Expected hours: 40 – 45 per week
