The University of Portsmouth is a global employer of choice where exceptional people create, share and apply knowledge that makes a difference.

Experience the pride of being part of a select group – one of only four universities in the south-east of England to achieve a prestigious Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework. Additionally, we proudly rank among the top 140 universities globally in the Times Higher Young University World Rankings.

Ambition, Responsibility and Openness drive our every endeavour. Join our esteemed institution with a proven track record of success, and where dedication to excellence is key. We want people to make their mark in a professional community that truly values people, innovation, and achievement.

The Role:

The School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences wishes to appoint a part-time (0.6 FTE) Senior Teaching Fellow with expertise in clinical areas associated with pharmacy practice.

Applicants must be qualified pharmacists, registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC), and possess a detailed understanding of the skills and knowledge required for the GPhC Foundation Training Programme for trainee pharmacists. A team-focused approach and a willingness to develop innovative teaching methods are essential.

Your main responsibility will be to design and deliver a Foundation Training Support Programme for University of Portsmouth pharmacy undergraduates and postgraduates. This will include, but not be limited to:

  • Oriel application support for Level 6 students.
  • Preparation for practice for Level 7 students; and
  • Professional support for UoP MPharm graduates undertaking foundation training, including out-of-hours training webinars, to help them prepare for the GPhC registration assessment.

You will bring drive, an innovative approach to learning and teaching, and a passion for collaborative working in a dynamic academic environment.

The University of Portsmouth achieved the highest 'Gold' rating in the 2023 Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF). The School of Medicine, Pharmacy and Biomedical Sciences has a strong record of sustained excellence in teaching, reflected in our high student satisfaction scores (National Student Survey) and the employability of our graduates.

The working pattern for this post is 22.2 hours per week split over 3 days.

Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role.

The interviews are currently anticipated to be held on 21 November 2025.
