BBSRC Network Research Fellow
The University of Portsmouth is a global employer of choice where exceptional people create, share and apply knowledge that makes a difference.
Experience the pride of being part of a select group – one of only four universities in the south-east of England to achieve a prestigious Gold rating in the Teaching Excellence Framework. Additionally, we proudly rank among the top 140 universities globally in the Times Higher Young University World Rankings.
Ambition, Responsibility and Openness drive our every endeavour. Join our esteemed institution with a proven track record of success, and where dedication to excellence is key. We want people to make their mark in a professional community that truly values people, innovation, and achievement.
The Role:
We are looking for a Research Fellow to lead the Networking Innovation Across Nucleic Acids project. The postholder will conduct independent and original research to identify, synthesise, and analyse developments across the field of nucleic acid innovation. This includes horizon scanning, meta-analyses of emerging research themes, and analysis of network-generated metadata. The Research Fellow will co-author and publish scholarly and thought-leadership outputs (e.g. peer-reviewed papers, white papers, and policy briefs), contribute to bid development, and engage as a scientific expert across disciplines. The postholder will play an active role in shaping the research direction of the Network and will generate outputs eligible for inclusion in the REF. They will be able to communicate effectively with researchers and stakeholders from diverse disciplines and backgrounds, including students, technicians, postdoctoral researchers, and industry partners. A proven track record in research and publication is essential.
Whilst there is a need to be in Portsmouth a few days a week, hybrid working is available for this role. This role is being advertised as a full time position but the department may consider reduced hours fr the right candidate.
The interviews are currently anticipated to be held on 01 December 2025.
This appointment is a fixed-term contract from 01 December 2025 until 30 November 2028.
