London N, United Kingdom Stand Against Violence Full time

Are you passionate about inspiring young people and making a difference?

Do you have experience in education or youth work?

Can you help us in our mission to combat youth violence?

We're looking for engaging and enthusiastic freelance teachers and facilitators to join our team and deliver powerful anti-violence workshops in schools, colleges and community settings across England and Wales. Flexible, rewarding, and impactful—this is your chance to help shape young lives. Join us and be part of something that truly matters as together, we Stand Against Violence.

We believe education and early intervention is the key to preventing violence and giving young people the tools they need to make positive choices. Our teachers and facilitators are responsible for engagingly and impactfully delivering workshops rooted in lived experience, in schools and other educational settings. Our interactive, engaging workshops cover vital topics like violence prevention, bullying, domestic abuse, grooming, misogyny and substance awareness. Every booking is different; you could be hosting a one-off 60-minute workshop or even a full day of six workshops. We already work with schools, colleges, sports clubs, and youth groups and we'd love your help to reach even more young people.

Why join us?

  • Freelance: this role is freelance and hours are ad hoc.
  • Perfect bolt-on: suited to those already self-employed, doing supply or part-time work, or semi-retired.
  • Support: we provide training, shadowing opportunities, and ongoing guidance, so you'll never feel on your own.
  • Community impact: you'll play a vital role in inspiring young people and being part of lasting change.
  • Competitive pay: sessions are delivered on a self-employed basis at great rates.

What you'll do:

  • Deliver engaging workshops to young people in schools and community settings (within a reasonable distance from home plus there is always opportunity to travel further afield).
  • Share and promote SAV's mission to reduce violence and empower young people.
  • Liaise with schools and organisations before sessions to ensure smooth delivery.
  • Work closely with our core team to keep communication clear and simple.
  • Attend training sessions 2-3 times a year to stay updated and connected.

Skills and experience we're ideally looking for:

  • Experience of teaching at appropriate school level and above (mainly secondary and primary school age groups)
  • Ability to adapt to situations/audiences and good classroom/group management
  • Ability to deal with and explore emotional and emotive subjects accepting all perspectives sensitively
  • Must be able to drive and hold a full and clean driving license with business insurance OR have access to reliable public transport
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with substantial experience of communicating effectively using different media and in different situations
  • Excellent listening skills and an empathic understanding
  • Organised and pro-active with excellent self-management skills and self-motivation, with excellent time keeping skills and good communication ability via phone and email
  • High levels of discretion and experience of handling sensitive situations and information with integrity and good judgement
  • Excellent IT skills, including use of Outlook, PowerPoint and internet skills
  • A good understanding of the education sector, the curriculum and the policies and guidelines affecting schools
  • Experience of working in the voluntary sector
  • An understanding of the impact of street violence and also knowledge of issues affecting young people.

A few things to note:

This is not a full-time position with guaranteed hours, this is a freelance position and hours vary week to week. The work is a fantastic bolt on to supply or other teaching work and should not be considered your main income generation.

This post is subject to an enhanced CRB check and safeguarding training, which will be paid by yourself.
