Internal Auditor

Newcastle upon Tyne, Newcastle upon Tyne, United Kingdom df02da48-beb4-4a2b-8720-60f6ec48c3bb Full time £40,000 - £60,000 per year

Job Description
The Internal Auditor will help to deliver the Internal Audit Plan for the Sage Group plc with the opportunity to participate in a diverse range of audits, both with Assurance colleagues and/or our third party co-source provider.

This is a hybrid role 3 days per week from our Newcastle office

Key Responsibilities Summary Of Role
This role is all about helping deliver high-quality internal audits that give the business confidence in how risks are being managed. You'll be part of a supportive assurance team, working across different areas of the company to plan reviews, carry out fieldwork, and produce clear, accurate audit reports that help drive improvement.

What I will be doing

You'll take ownership of assigned audits from start to finish—planning the work, engaging the right stakeholders, carrying out fieldwork, and documenting everything to assurance standards. You'll keep managers informed throughout each review, lead key meetings, and ensure all observations are reflected clearly in the final report.

You'll work with teams to create practical action plans, follow up on issues until they're fully resolved, and contribute to regular reporting for leadership. Along the way, you'll help refine audit methodology, stay aware of best practice, and build strong relationships across the business and with external partners. This is a global role so some international travel will be required.

What we are looking for

We're looking for someone who communicates well, manages their workload confidently, and can build trust with people at all levels. You'll have a growth mindset, enjoy working collaboratively, and be comfortable challenging the status quo in a constructive way. Strong organisational skills, good judgment, and proficiency with MS Office are essential, along with the willingness to travel when needed.

It's helpful if you have experience delivering internal audits—ideally within UK-listed or technology-focused businesses—and a good understanding of internal audit standards and methodologies. Experience using audit or workflow management software and working with distributed teams is also valuable.

We're looking for someone committed to developing professionally, whether that's through ongoing learning or working toward a relevant qualification such as CIA, CIMA, ACCA, AAT or similar. A degree or part-qualification is beneficial but not required.
