Global Financial Controller

Location: Newcastle upon Tyne

About Hubexo

We provide cutting-edge data, insights, and software solutions to the global construction industry. We specialise in project information, eTendering, product information, market intelligence, and specification. We help the world build better by delivering unrivalled insights and technology that shape places where people live, work and play.

The Role

Global consolidation and statutory reporting across UK and international entities. Youll turn complex IFRS data into clear, board-ready insight. This isnt about managing ledgers or transactional finance. Its about supporting and leading group-level reporting, consolidation, and delivering strategic insight that shapes Hubexos future. Youll improve processes, strengthen controls, and modernise tools so Hubexo scales with confidence.

This is what youll be doing

  • Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual consolidations with zero-surprise accuracy.
  • Prepare consolidated statutory accounts under IFRS; coordinate local GAAP where required.
  • Produce cash flow statements, tax calculations, and equity reconciliations.
  • Deliver management reporting and forecasts that inform board and investor decisions.
  • Interpret IFRS standards (IFRS 10, IFRS 3, IAS 21, IAS 7, IAS 12) with confidence.
  • Partner with finance leads across markets to drive consistent, quality reporting.
  • Own the consolidation system (e.g., Cognos Controller, HFM, Tagetik, OneStream, SAP BPC).
  • Embed robust policies, controls, and continuous process improvements.
  • Support M&A: set the accounting treatment and integrate acquisitions smoothly.
  • Be the primary contact for auditors and external advisors.

What you can expect in this role

  • Investor-level scrutiny: your numbers must stand up to challenge, every time.
  • Tight closes and audit peaks: deadlines compress, pressure rises, quality cant slip.
  • Complex, multinational data: different currencies, rules, and stakeholders.
  • Change leadership: youll push through better processes, not just maintain them.
  • Hybrid, purposeful collaboration in our Newcastle hub on key days.

What youll gain

  • Direct influence at CFO and Board level. Your insight shapes decisions.
  • The mandate to modernise tools and reporting across the group.
  • Wide international exposure and genuine ownership of the consolidation landscape.
  • Career stretch: M&A, system optimisation, and policy leadership.
  • A supportive team that values precision, candour, and momentum.

About You

  • 35 years group accounting/consolidation experience.
  • Strong IFRS knowledge, including IFRS 10, IFRS 3, IAS 21, IAS 7, IAS 12.
  • Hands-on with a consolidation platform: Cognos Controller, HFM, Tagetik, OneStream, or SAP BPC.
  • Advanced Excel and a track record of improving reporting processes.
  • Structured, detail-driven, and proactive. You see the big picture and the edge cases.
  • Experience in private equity or privately owned groups is a plus.
  • Comfortable partnering with senior leaders and mentoring others.
  • Fluent English; Swedish is an advantage.

Why Hubexo

"Were not here to coastwere here to challenge, grow, and build better. For our people and for our customers. That means well expect a lot from you: ownership, precision, and a drive to lead by example. In return, youll get the space to dream big, take smart risks, and be seen, heard, and valued."
