Duration of Contract: Permanent

Salary: UH5 £28,778pa to £32,080pa by annual increments on achieving designated skills and experience

Academic Registry is one of the University's largest Strategic Business Units and supports the business and its administration through a number of dedicated teams, who provide an expert central service supporting students throughout their journey from enquiry to award.

We have an Academic Quality and Assessment Officer vacancy within the de Havilland Hub Student Administration team. Whilst we are primarily based on campus in Hatfield, most teams in Academic Registry operate hybrid working arrangements. This allows staff the option to work from home (in the UK) on a regular basis if they wish to after a period of training in the office.

Main duties and responsibilities

As an Academic Quality and Assessment Officer you will be undertaking a range of activities in relation to academic quality and assessment processes. You will be responsible for the preparation and documentation for the Boards of Examiners meetings, and organisation of Programme Academic Experience Group Meetings, acting as a Clerk to both. You will provide support, advice and guidance to Schools regarding the completion of paperwork for the appointment of External Examiners, inviting them to Exam Boards and ensuring that they can access relevant Board of Examiners documentation.

You will co-ordinate the module options process and ensure the accuracy of information provided for students to make their choices. You will acquire expertise in your areas of specialism and provide guidance to colleagues, students and your managers, including the preparation of data and reports.

You will work as part of a central team and will have a range of contacts from within and outside of the de Havilland Hub. In addition, there will be the opportunity to assist at key University events throughout the year.

Skills and experience required

The successful candidate will have good numeracy, literacy and IT skills, including MS Office and experience with Excel. You will have a methodical approach with good attention to detail and be able to deal with conflicting priorities, working accurately under pressure to tight deadlines, whilst recognising and respecting the sensitive and confidential nature of the data you handle.

You will have the ability to record information from meetings in a variety of formats and communicate effectively with different audiences. You will be comfortable working with other people but be able to demonstrate initiative and work with limited supervision, whilst having a can-do attitude and a commitment to continuous improvement.

Qualifications required

Educated with a minimum of A-levels or equivalent qualifications or proven professional work experience.

Please view the job description and person specification for a full list of the duties and essential criteria. Please attach a personal statement showing clearly how your skills and experience match the Person Specification.

Internal applicants– please ensure you apply via your employee self-service portal.

We regret that we are unable to offer UKVI sponsorship for this post; applicants will either hold UK Right to Work or demonstrate access to UK Right to Work before an offer is made.
