HOURS OF WORK: 37.5 Per Week.
RESPONSIBLE TO: Training Officer.
BASIC REQUIREMENTS:
Full UK driving licence, flexible working hours, including weekends. A reliable team player, administration skills, leadership skills, ability to effectively communicate, work on own initiative.
ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Minimum of 3-years experience of quayside operations in a container terminal with extensive knowledge of lashing operations on a container vessel. Competent in driving either a Reach Stacker, Shuttle Carrier, or Shunting Tug.
PURPOSE OF JOB ROLE
- To carry out and support with training as requested by the Training Officer for all employees.
- Advising on the company's Health and Safety.
- Ensuring that standards are maintained and continually improved through site visits.
- To ensure that all training is completed and managed in line with Company procedures.
SUMMARY OF ROLE
- To assist the Training Officer in co ordinating all Company training.
- To ensure that it is up to date and in line with legislation and Company procedures.
- This document does not form an exhaustive list of duties for the role of Training Co-ordinator; you may be required to undertake additional duties as necessary in line with business needs.
- To undertake any courses to improve the training within the Company.
MAIN DUTIES / HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Keep up to date with all Safety Legislation and advise the division.
- Offer advice to all employees.
- Liaise with Health, Safety, and Investigations Officer and Training Officer over concerns regarding Health and Safety issues.
- To carry out regular safety inspections of Company working areas highlighting defects or behaviour that affects the health and safety of employees and our customers.
- Being proactive regarding issues or potential issues.
MAIN DUTIES / TRAINING
- Assisting the Training Officer in co-ordinating all training that takes place within the Company ensuring that all training is carried out consistently, in line with Company policies and procedures and in a timely manner.
- Perform all final assessments on new employees that have been trained in quayside operations.
- Train new entrants and existing employees in quayside operations using the appropriate training modules.
- Assist the Training Officer in identifying new trainers for the division.
- Facilitate the training of all new Chargehands (senior lashers).
- Liaise with the Training Officer on all training to manage the impact on operations.
- Produce and update any Power Points regarding any new quayside training methods.
- Ensure that all quayside training manuals and procedures are current, up to date and signed off.
- Liaise with DP World London Gateway Training Department to ensure all SCPS quayside training materials align with their training packs, ensuring all documents are correctly versioned.
- Inform all Training Instructors and T/O trainers of new quayside training procedures and assessments, ensuring all relevant documentation is signed-off and completed.
- Organise reassessments and refreshers for current SCPS employees.
- Monitor the performance of the quayside T/O trainers ensuring that all training is faciliated in line with Company standards.
- Carry out audits on quayside training procedures, training records and training manuals to ensure that training standards are being maintained and procedures are being followed.
- Maintain individual training records making sure that certificates and training documentation held on personal files are current and held in line with the Data Protection Act (GDPR).
- Liaise with the relevant departments on new entrants to ensure that all new and existing employees are trained to the expected standard and are fit to undertake training/re-fresher training to prevent any conflict issues concerning safety, insurance, capability, and discipline.
- Assisting in the recruitment and selection process to include; height and strength testing, interviewing when necessary and co-ordinating various activities during assessment days.
- Producing regular reports to the Training Officer on training, including refresher training, inductions, headcount, problems with training, and issues with trainees and resources etc.
- Being aware of HSE guidance and any legislative changes that may impact on training/duties that are carried out.
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES
- Maintaining confidentiality always ensuring that all employees are dealt with in a professional manner.
- To undertake any courses to improve the Training and the Health and Safety within the Company.
- To attend any training or self- development courses as identified by the HR Manager or the Company's Senior Management Team.
- To participate in any projects as required and directed by the HR Manager or the General Operations Manager.
- To adhere and comply with all Company Policies and Procedures.
- Ensure full compliance with the Health and Safety at Work Act and all locally agreed safe methods of work for self and others including other Company employees, customers' employees, and visitors to the site.
- To ensure full awareness of obligations to preserve and foster sound environmental practices.
