The Opportunity As part of our continued growth, we are seeking a proactive and skilled Site Bakery Engineer to support our bakery and production operations. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality mechanical and electrical maintenance, ensuring our equipment runs safely and efficiently.

Hours: 3 on / 3 off rotating shifts (days and nights) 12-hour shifts: 7am – 7pm / 7pm – 7am Average 40.25 hours per week

Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work on-call and provide cover for planned and unplanned absences within the engineering team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned maintenance and support continuous improvement
  • Respond to breakdowns and perform reactive repairs
  • Diagnose faults and deliver high-quality repairs
  • Ensure safe and reliable operation of all equipment
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation
  • Support installation and commissioning of new machinery
  • Manage parts inventory and coordinate supply orders
  • Perform general site repairs (plumbing, painting, fitting)
  • Mentor apprentices and assist in their development
  • Work closely with the engineering manager and other departments
  • Take part in relevant training and development activities

Qualifications & Experience

  • Proven experience in mechanical/electrical engineering (industrial or ex-Naval backgrounds welcome)
  • Minimum Level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HND or equivalent)
  • Apprentice trained

Skills & Desirable Attributes

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
  • Forklift truck license (preferred)
  • Basic food hygiene certificate (desired)
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • Self-motivated with ability to work independently
  • Flexible and reliable, on-call cover may be required
