Salary:
Starting at £44,000, rising to £48,000 within 12 months upon successful completion of the probation period.
Hours:
3 on / 3 off rotating shifts (days and nights) 12-hour shifts: 7am – 7pm / 7pm – 7am Average 40.25 hours per week
Flexibility is essential, as you may be required to work on-call and provide cover for planned and unplanned absences within the engineering team.

The Role:
As part of our continued growth, we're looking for a proactive and skilled
Site Bakery Engineer
to support our bakery and production operations. You'll be responsible for delivering high-quality maintenance and electrical services, ensuring our equipment runs smoothly and efficiently.
Key Responsibilities:
- Carrying out planned maintenance and driving continuous improvement
- Responding to breakdowns and performing reactive maintenance
- Diagnosing faults and completing high-quality repairs
- Ensuring all plant and equipment operates safely and reliably
- Complying with health and safety regulations
- Completing daily maintenance records and documentation
- Assisting with the installation and commissioning of new machinery
- Managing mechanical and electrical parts, sourcing and ordering supplies
- Performing general site repairs (plumbing, painting, fitting, finishing)
- Mentoring apprentices and supporting their development
- Collaborating with the engineering manager, colleagues, and other departments
- Participating in relevant training and development courses
Qualifications & Experience:
- Proven experience as a mechanical/electrical engineer in an industrial setting (Ex-Naval engineers or similar backgrounds are welcome)
- Minimum Level 3 qualification in mechanical or electrical engineering (NVQ, City & Guilds, HND or equivalent)
- Apprentice trained
Skills:
- Ability to read and interpret mechanical/electrical drawings
- Forklift truck license (preferred)
- Basic food hygiene certificate (desired)
- Proficient in Microsoft Word & Excel
- Strong team player with excellent communication skills
- Able to work independently and take initiative
