Our client

Nigel Wright Recruitment Group is delighted to be partnering with Eastgate Engineering Services, a thriving engineering and construction company based in Thornaby in their search for an experienced HR Manager. Established eight years ago, the business is entering a transformative phase with a newly appointed C - suite board and is now seeking a dynamic HR professional to help shape its people strategy and support future growth.

This role is ideal for a hands-on HR Manager who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys building culture, performance, and process from the ground up.

The Opportunity

Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to;

  • Lead and manage a small HR team, including a Labour Manager and HR Administrator
  • Drive employee engagement and foster a positive, inclusive culture across multiple project sites
  • Oversee end-to-end recruitment, onboarding, and succession planning
  • Develop and implement core HR policies, processes, and systems
  • Deliver performance management and learning & development frameworks
  • Coordinate pay, reward, and employee benefits programmes
  • Collaborate with the Safety Officer to promote health, safety, and well-being initiatives
  • Ensure compliance with employment law, ISO standards, and contractor agreements

Who we are looking for

The successful candidate will possess strong relationship building skills and the ability to work collaboratively with the senior leadership team. Whilst a background from the engineering, manufacturing or technical sectors is desirable, it is by no means essential.

  • CIPD Level 5 or equivalent qualification
  • Proven generalist HR experience, ideally within engineering, manufacturing, or technical environments
  • Strong understanding of employment law and HR best practices
  • Experience implementing new systems and writing policies
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • A proactive, "can-do" attitude.
