Road Crime Team Transferee
Current Salary
Permanent
About The Opportunity
Opportunities exist for Police Constables to apply for the above positions as members of the Road Crime Team (RCT) within the Operational Support Directorate. Applicants will only be eligible to apply when they have completed their student service and are confirmed out of their probation.
The role is an extremely varied one which includes supporting activity around force priorities and delivering against the force roads policing plan. As an RCT Officer you will be part of a disciplined, well-organised team that must be able to respond to a wide variety of challenges. Fundamentally, the role requires keen, enthusiastic officers with a proactive mind-set capable of transitioning between crime and road safety based activity.
The overall recruitment process will be multi-disciplined and require the applicant to demonstrate that they have excellent communication skills, the ability to work closely as part of a variety of police and partnership teams, take personal responsibility for their own actions, operating with a high degree of integrity whilst showing enthusiasm and dedication to the role. Quality and quantity of current work such will also be considered. There is also a need to demonstrate the ability to remain calm and confident in difficult and high pressure situations whilst responding logically and decisively. The candidate will also be required to demonstrate the consistent ability to prepare for and participate in planned policing operations.
For candidates not already qualified there will be a requirement to successfully complete an advanced driving course, TPAC and Roads Policing Officer Portfolio before being fully posted to the unit.
The assessment centre will take place under strict conditions. Dates for the assessments will be provided to the applicants that are both supported by their Chief Inspector and have successfully passed their written application.
There are a number of optional awareness days that are designed to give a fuller understanding of the role and the assessment process. These sessions will be informal drop-ins and candidates are not expected to attend for the full session. They are an opportunity to speak to the team and get an understanding of the role. They will take place at Doxey Police Post (National Highways depot), Seighford Lane, Seighford, Stafford, ST18 9LQ.
- Awareness Sessions on 10th / 11th November at Doxey.
- Written assessment closing date 1500 Monday 17th November 2025
- Practical assessment / interview in Jan 2026
Please contact Insp Tom Watson via e-mail if you wish to attend the awareness sessions -
