AML Compliance Lead

MERJE is seeking an experienced AML Compliance Lead for a prestigious law firm in Manchester. This role offers an exciting opportunity to manage firm-wide AML policies and procedures, ensuring full compliance with UK legislation. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial crime prevention within the legal sector.

£60 - £75k plus excellent benefits

Location: Manchester (Hybrid – 1 day remote per week) with occasional travel to Liverpool and London

The Role

As the AML Compliance Lead, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the firm's compliance standards. This position offers a competitive salary, benefits package, and the opportunity to work in a hybrid setting, balancing office presence with remote work flexibility.

Key Responsibilities of the AML Compliance Lead:

  • Maintain and update firm-wide AML risk assessments
  • Enhance AML policies, processes, and systems
  • Provide expert guidance on complex financial crime issues
  • Deliver AML training and support to fee earners
  • Conduct periodic reviews of existing clients for ongoing compliance

Required knowledge and experience for the AML Compliance Lead role:

  • Degree-level education
  • Minimum 4 years' AML/Compliance experience in a law firm
  • Strong knowledge of UK AML regulations and sanctions legislation
  • Experience beyond KYC and onboarding processes
  • Proactive approach and commitment to developing expertise in AML
