Director, Corporate Development (London, office-based)

Who Are We

Hansen (ASX: HSN) is a global provider of software and services to the energy, water, and communications industries. With our award-winning software suite, we help more than 600 customers in over 80 countries to create and deliver new products and services, engage with customers, and manage critical revenue and customer support processes. Our solutions are essential ingredients in our customers' commercial business models, enabling them to deliver essential services, charge for them, and build lasting relationships with their end customers.

Traditionally Hansen has been known for our billing and customer care solutions for utilities and energy companies; and for our BSS/OSS solutions for the communications industry. Yet today our solutions are far broader than this – from enabling the strategic trading of energy resources, to gaining real insights from the data tsunami that smart meters enable and the ability to quickly sell products through our Catalog-driven solutions. Put simply, our solutions are essential ingredients in our customers' commercial business model, providing them the ability to create and deliver these essential services, charge for them, and establish and maintain lasting relationships with their end customers.

Why This Role Matters

Originate and Execute, Influence and Integrate, Lead and Deliver.

As Director of Corporate Development (reporting to the Chief Strategy Officer, and working with other ELT members), you'll play a pivotal role in driving Hansen's global growth agenda. Acquisitions are a core pillar of our strategy, and you will be responsible for identifying, cultivating, and executing acquisition opportunities that advance our strategic objectives—particularly across EMEA and the US. This is a high-impact, market-facing role for an experienced dealmaker who combines strong commercial judgement with the ability to build trusted relationships across the market, including founders, advisers, and investors. You will own the full lifecycle of M&A activity, from identifying and engaging potential targets through to transaction execution and integration planning. Your work will directly shape Hansen's future and help us deliver on our ambitious growth plans.

What You'll Do

  • Proactively identify, research, and prioritise potential acquisition targets aligned with Hansen's strategic and financial objectives.
  • Build and manage a network of relationships with founders, CEOs, investment banks, corporate finance advisers, and venture investors.
  • Lead end-to-end deal processes, including valuation, financial modelling, business case preparation, and due diligence coordination.
  • Assess strategic fit, financial attractiveness, and integration feasibility of potential acquisitions.
  • Drive negotiation of transaction terms and documentation in partnership with internal and external counsel.
  • Collaborate with business leaders to plan for integration and ensure acquired businesses are effectively onboarded.
  • Provide insights to refine Hansen's M&A and broader corporate strategy based on market trends and deal flow.
  • Support periodic reviews of M&A performance and strategic pipeline reporting to executive leadership.

What You Bring

  • 10+ years' experience in mergers & acquisitions, corporate development, or investment banking, with deep exposure to sourcing and executing transactions.
  • Big 4 / top strategy consultancy firms / IB or PE / listed corporate - all of these types of experience will be considered.
  • Demonstrated ability to build networks, uncover opportunities, and develop relationships that lead to successful transactions.
  • Experience working with or within publicly listed companies as acquirers.
  • Strong financial modelling, valuation, and strategic assessment skills.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and negotiation skills, able to engage confidently with founders, boards, and senior executives.
  • Exposure to enterprise software, energy & utilities, or telecommunications sectors is an advantage.
  • Willingness to travel internationally, primarily across Europe and North America.
  • Professional qualifications such as ACA (or similar), MBA, CFA, or equivalent are highly regarded.
