Music Coordinator with Teaching Responsibilities (Fixed Term)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Music Coordinator with Teaching Responsibilities to join the team at Grace Garden School in Bristol.
Main Duties include:
- Plan and deliver music sessions to individuals or small groups of students according to their individual needs and learning requirements, using the bespoke RMT music curriculum as a guide. Sessions should be tailored to support progression and include teaching up to GCSE level where appropriate.
- To encourage students with the right aptitude to prepare and perform pieces of music, whether solo or as a group, at festivals and school or Trust performances.
- To be part of an ongoing assessment of students' learning needs and to make reasonable adjustments as required, minimising barriers to learning and achievement.
- Work creatively with different musical styles and acoustic, unplugged instruments to meet the varied needs of our students.
- Positively role model behaviours and attitudes.
- Support students on their life journey by developing good rapport and giving appropriate challenges that build their self-confidence to participate in the cultural life of the community.
- To work alongside and to support teachers and teaching assistants to deliver music in the classroom.
- To prepare suitable music for seasonal festivals and performances and supervise rehearsals with students and staff.
- Collaborate with other teachers and therapists, including Speech and Language, Dance and Drama to coordinate cross-discipline learning sessions and experiences.
- Lead CPD to develop staff confidence and skill in singing and teaching music fundamentals.
- To maintain the instrument collection and the organisation of the music room
The qualifications, skills and experiences that we are looking for are:
· Full teaching qualification (qualified teacher status)
· Knowledge of Rudolf Steiner Holistic Education with particular reference to the works and insights of John Ruskin and William Morris
· A team player with experience of teaching with young people with SEND
· Adaptable and shows initiative
· High level of personal resilience
· Excellent communication skills and high levels of emotional intelligence
You will receive ongoing CPD in therapeutic music education and community music and will receive mentoring in the role.
The ideal candidate will have experience in teaching and hold a teaching qualification. However, we would still welcome applications from individuals who have not yet achieved this but are willing to train and learn.

Grace Garden School is a specialist school located on an 18-acre smallholding on the outskirts of Bristol, offering a range of outdoor learning activities in practical land and craft work to support the education and development of children and young people. Grace Garden School is part of Ruskin Mill Trust.
