About the team/service

The mission of Camden Adult Community Learning (ACL) is to encourage and support adults to make their first steps back into learning and so become more active economically, in their families and communities, and maintain better health.

How You'll Be Involved

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced and insightful 0.4 FTE Maths Coordinator to join our team. Working alongside a 0.6 FTE Maths Coordinator, as part of our new Adult Essential Skills department, the successful candidate will be responsible for teaching, planning and developing flexible and innovative adult Math's engagements. You will plan and teach relevant and motivating one-to-one and small group sessions to adults in Camden, including Maths-related sessions on financial awareness. You will gather and provide information regarding Maths provision across the borough and ensure that residents are supported to access appropriate courses. You will also promote Maths learning opportunities to local community organisations and ensure that learner views and other data are collected and presented effectively.

This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act and will require an Enhanced DBS. Please note Camden also offers the DBS update service.

To be considered for this fantastic opportunity, it's essential the successful candidate has a minimum Level 5 adult teaching qualification, e.g. the Level 5 Diploma in Adult Education & Training, DTLLS, or PGCE. You will have strong English and Maths Skills, with at least a Level 3 qualification in Maths and a Level 2 qualification in English, alongside with excellent digital skills. Previous demonstrable experience of teaching adult Maths in community settings is essential, with a solid track record of enabling progression outcomes for adults. You will have experience of working with adult learners from diverse backgrounds, including those whose first language is not English, and of supporting learners with identified learning needs, e.g. dyscalculia.
