Administrator – Cornerways Homes (Hitchin)

Location: Hitchin

Hours: 24 hours per week (Mon–Thu, flexible)

Salary: £23,000 – £25,000 per annum (pro rata)

Contract: Permanent, Part-Time

Reports to: Responsible Individual / Head of Operations

About Cornerways Homes

Cornerways Homes provides family-style residential care for children aged 11–17 with social, emotional, and behavioural needs (EBD). We are a small, nurturing organisation where every team member plays a vital role in improving young people's lives.

The Role

We are looking for a detail-oriented and organised Administrator to support our head office operations and residential homes. This role is ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy, thrives on structure, and enjoys being part of a supportive, values-driven team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and audit staff files, ensuring all compliance checks are up-to-date.
  • Support new starter onboarding and induction processes.
  • Manage absence reporting and payroll data collection.
  • Keep training matrices current and ensure accurate compliance records.
  • Maintain the Mentor and Atlas systems for HR and home documentation.
  • Book safety checks and liaise with contractors.
  • Prepare meeting minutes and internal newsletters for staff and young people.
  • Support managers with administrative duties and reporting needs.

About You

  • Excellent attention to detail and written English.
  • Confident using IT systems including Microsoft Office, Excel and HR software.
  • Able to work to deadlines and handle confidential information.
  • Warm, approachable, and professional communication style.
  • Prior experience in administration is essential; experience in recruitment or a care environment is an advantage.
  • Must be able to obtain an Enhanced DBS check (we pay for this).
