Volunteer - Fundraising Support
***Please note: this is a voluntary position and not paid employment***
Join us as a Volunteer in the role of Fundraising Support
We are looking for enthusiastic and motivated volunteers to support our small but ambitious fundraising team. There are a variety of tasks and opportunities available, and volunteers are welcome to choose which areas they would like to be involved in—you do not need to do everything listed. Some roles can be carried out from home, others take place in the office or out in the community.
Whether you enjoy research, chatting to supporters, helping at events, or raising awareness in your local area, there is a place for you in our team.
Where you will be based
- Options to volunteer from home, in our office (St Ives, Cambridgeshire), or out in the community.
- Activities and events may take place across Cambridgeshire, Peterborough and Norfolk, depending on your interests.
What you can choose to do
Depending on your skills and preferences, you may support with:
- Researching new fundraising opportunities and potential supporters within local communities.
- Responding to donor and fundraiser queries via email or telephone.
- General administration tasks including thanking supporters, data inputting and follow-up communications.
- Using our database (Salesforce) to ensure information is accurate and up to date — training provided.
- Representing Caring Together at community events and activities.
- Delivering talks to local groups to raise awareness of our work (optional).
- Placing and monitoring collection tins in shops and businesses in your local area, and returning collected donations to the fundraising team.
- Supporting the fundraising team at awareness events, stalls, and fundraising activities (as and when available).
You are welcome to volunteer in one or several of these areas.
Benefits to the volunteer
- The satisfaction of knowing you are making an important and valued difference to carers and their families.
- Meeting new people and being part of a friendly, supportive team.
- Developing new skills and gaining experience in fundraising, administration, community engagement or events.
- Loan of a laptop and any equipment required for the role (where applicable).
- Training and ongoing support based on your goals and interests.
- Flexibility to volunteer in ways that suit your availability and strengths.
Our commitment to you
- Training and guidance for all tasks you undertake.
- Support from the fundraising and volunteering teams.
- Reimbursement of reasonable expenses.
- A welcoming, inclusive environment where your contributions are valued.
What we are looking for
We are looking for volunteers who:
- Are friendly, enthusiastic and enjoy supporting others.
- Have good communication skills.
- Are confident using IT and Microsoft Office, or willing to learn.
- Can be reliable, trustworthy and respectful in handling information.
- Are happy to work as part of a team and follow Caring Together policies and procedures.
- Can communicate regularly with their link supervisor.
- Are willing to attend any necessary training for the tasks they choose to support with.
- Are able to commit to volunteering at times that work for both themselves and the team — very flexible options available.
No previous charity or fundraising experience is needed.
