Syndicate 1183 underwrites a number of classes of business including war and terrorism, energy, marine, financial lines, cyber, transport, political risk, crisis management, kidnap & ransom, contingency, property and treaty reinsurance. How you will create an impact

Reports to the Property Claims Manager, with responsibility for managing all aspects of the claims adjudication process, providing both management and clients with an efficient and effective claims service.

The Property Claims Team manage claims concerning the following Direct, Facultative Reinsurance, Excess of Loss and Proportional Treaty classes:

  • Property including Binders/Lineslips
  • Downstream Energy & Power
  • Political Violence & Terror (Centre of Excellence)
  • Syndicate 1183, 2019 & 2478 claims
  • Construction (RO)
  • Aviation Treaty (RO)
  • Property Treaty (RO)

Responsibilities:

  • Acting within an agreed claims handling authority and upholding the departmental objectives.
  • Receiving and acting upon first notifications and updates, determining coverage.
  • Taking a fair and proportionate approach towards policyholders.
  • Agreeing valid claims.
  • Establishing and maintaining accurate reserves.
  • Carrying out negotiations with brokers, face to face when required.
  • Handling claims electronically, predominately via market systems and DocoSoft.
  • Managing third party experts.
  • Representing the syndicate at market meetings.
  • Attending client meetings.
  • Notifying and reporting claims notifications to underwriters and senior management where necessary.
  • Handling litigated cases in relevant jurisdictions.
  • Completing statics, SDRs, diary and other ancillary tasks to a high standard.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Experience in handling Property Claims
  • Political Violence & Terror. - Highly desirable or a willingness to learn
  • Experience in Treaty, would be an advantage.
  • Detailed understanding of the London Market regulatory environment and implications for Talbot and our clients.
  • Full working knowledge of market systems and DocoSoft.
  • Litigation, mediation, dispute resolution and deposition skills.
  • Use of internal underwriting and claims systems and relevant software packages.
  • Relationship building internally and externally.
  • Ability to identify trends and understand how these may affect Claims and the Syndicate more broadly.
  • Foreign languages would be an advantage.
