Job Description

So, what's the job?

An opportunity has arisen to work in the Financial Institutions (FI) Credit team in Commercial Banking Risk. We need to expand our team looking after Asset Managers and Hedge Funds in line with growth in our Financial Markets business. In Credit Risk we're here to support our business in achieving its goals whilst protecting the bank from loss. In Financial Institutions we work with clients from insurance companies to banks, from pension funds to governments.

Your new team handles a variety of funds (pension schemes, for example); wealth managers; and governments from around the world. As a relatively small team everyone who joins is crucial so your expertise will be invaluable. While hedge funds and asset managers will be your main focus, there are opportunities to use your current skills, and expand them, to support your wider team.

Our team has daily interactions with Sales, relationship managers, Legal and Onboarding. Looking after these relationships is essential to our team's efficiency given the volume of clients we look after. We also submit reviews and present to senior sanctioners, the Chief Credit Officer and other senior executives. As a close-knit team, we rely on each other to a significant degree and have built a supportive environment. Personal development is encouraged and supported.

Ideally, you'll have:
  • In-depth knowledge of hedge fund credit analysis and experience of analysing other financial institutions.
  • A proven understanding of traded products (swaps, TRS, FX and repurchase agreements) and the associated legal documentation (e.g. ISDA, CSA and GMRA) is also important.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

You'll also need the ability to set credit risk appetite, ensuring it is well communicated to stakeholders while actively running a portfolio of counterparts, reviewing counterparty limits, ratings, and portfolio concentrations to ensure they are accurate and in-line with a constantly evolving credit risk environment.

Being a Credit Officer is a demanding role, with a need to understand important and thought-provoking requests while giving clear and effective communication to colleagues. We're looking for someone who is keen to contribute to our unique FI Credit culture which is at the heart of our efforts to support one another.

So, who are you?

You have existing risk management experience of hedge funds and can demonstrate proven credit analysis skills and an ability to learn and develop quickly. You have well-developed communication and influencing skills. You're happy to challenge the status quo and are comfortable making and explaining decisions. You're able to handle conflicting demands whilst delivering on time.

We also offer a wide-ranging benefits package, which includes:

  • A generous pension contribution of up to 15%
  • An annual performance-related bonus
  • Share schemes including free shares
  • Benefits you can adapt to your lifestyle, such as discounted shopping
  • 30 Days' holiday, with bank holidays on top
  • A range of wellbeing initiatives and generous parental leave policies

Our focus is to ensure we're inclusive every day, building an organisation that reflects modern society and celebrates diversity in all its forms. We want our people to feel that they belong and can be their best, regardless of background, identity or culture.

If you'd like reasonable adjustments to our recruitment process, just let us know. This is a once in a career opportunity to help shape your future as well as ours.

Join us and grow with purpose

At Lloyds Banking Group, we're driven by a clear purpose; to help Britain prosper. Across the Group, our colleagues are focused on making a difference to customers, businesses and communities. With us you'll have a key role to play in shaping the financial services of the future, whilst the scale and reach of our Group means you'll have many opportunities to learn, grow and develop.

We keep your data safe. So, we'll only ever ask you to provide confidential or sensitive information once you have formally been invited along to an interview or accepted a verbal offer to join us which is when we run our background checks.  We'll always explain what we need and why, with any request coming from a trusted Lloyds Banking Group person.

We're focused on creating a values-led culture and are committed to building a workforce which reflects the diversity of the customers and communities we serve. Together we're building a truly inclusive workplace where all of our colleagues have the opportunity to make a real difference.
