Neonatal Nursery Nurse
A new opportunity has arisen for a nursery nurse to join our Neonatal Transitional Care team at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary as we expand our service. We are a busy maternity ward caring for babies who require a higher level of care and expertise in Neonatal Transitional Care.
The ideal candidate will be joining a team of registered neonatal nurses and nursery nurses who work alongside the midwifery team and will have experience in working in caring for babies in a health related environment.
The post is predominantly on the postnatal ward, focusing on the care of transitional care babies. You will also be required to work shifts on the Neonatal Unit as part of the nursing team for continuing development and support.
To provide the highest standard of assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of individualised patient care to babies on Neonatal Transitional Care.
To provide family integrated care, developmental care and infant feeding support. We are working towards the UNICEF Baby Friendly accreditation and are looking for individuals who will strive to achieve this.
To communicate effectively with the neonates parents and siblings, the Maternity and Neonatal Unit team, the wider multidisciplinary team in other departments within UHMBT and pertinent agencies outside the organisation.
You will need strong organisational skills and the ability to undertake assigned duties of care without direct supervision, in a calm and sensitive manner.
We operate from three main hospitals-Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal, as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe, and Ulverston Community Health Centre.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery. In addition, a range of local outreach services and diagnostics are provided from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
