The Role
We are seeking a Programme Administrator to support the successful delivery of environmental and energy programmes. Ricardo delivers a wide range of government-funded initiatives that help drive environmental improvement and support the transition to a low carbon economy. These include grants, innovation programmes, business support services and environmental evidence projects. Our expertise in programme design, project management and technical delivery has established us as a trusted delivery partner across the sector.This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in delivering real-world impact by supporting programmes that accelerate the UK's progress towards net zero.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the development and delivery of environmental and energy-related programmes.
  • Keep projects running smoothly by supporting day-to-day coordination and ensuring timelines and budgets are met.
  • Maintain project documentation and ensure internal processes, including quality assurance requirements, are followed.
  • Help set up and monitor work delivered by subcontractors.
  • Support regular communication with clients, including preparing progress updates and contributing to key deliverables.
  • Work closely with colleagues across the team to make sure activity is well coordinated and that we deliver what's needed.
  • Take on feedback from clients and help improve how we deliver programmes and manage internal processes.

Key Competencies And Experience

  • Experience in project or programme coordination, ideally including work with central government.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and keep work on track.
  • Clear communicator, confident working with colleagues and clients at all levels.
  • Experience supporting successful delivery to time and budget, with examples of how challenges were managed.
  • Comfortable working in a busy consultancy environment across several projects at once.
  • Quick to learn and able to suggest practical improvements to ways of working.
  • Positive, proactive approach, with a willingness to support others where needed.

Desirable Competencies And Experience

  • A recognised project management qualification (e.g. PRINCE2 or equivalent).
  • Experience working on low carbon, decarbonisation or wider environmental programmes.
