About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Head of Transformation and Internal Communications to define and deliver our group-wide strategy for internal communications and engagement through change.

This pivotal role will ensure our colleagues are informed, aligned, and inspired as we embed a culture of excellence and innovation. You will be responsible for communicating progress, celebrating achievements, and fostering a deep understanding of our clients across the organisation.

What you'll be doing

  • Leading on the development, delivery and measurement of HL's internal communications strategy.
  • Building an events and engagement programme which celebrates success, embeds a deep understanding of our clients and brings colleagues together.
  • Owning transformation communications to ensure regular, strategic updates, acting on colleague feedback and sharing information regularly and clearly.
  • Development and delivery of compelling colleague engagement campaigns to build pride and belief in HL and the company culture and to support business objectives and initiatives.
  • Driving employee engagement through impactful and effective storytelling and engaging colleagues in HL's most important agenda items.
  • Playing a leading role in the delivery of HL's ELT (Executive Leadership Team) communications strategy.
  • Providing advice to senior internal stakeholders on internal communications and engagement.
  • Supporting and delivering internal communications through an ongoing transformation and also supporting the broader transformation strategy at a high level across the organisation.
  • Accountability for HL's Internal Communications channel strategy
  • Champion strategic thinking across the Corporate Affairs team, working in lock-step with the Director of Corporate Affairs, coaching and inspiring others to deliver impactful and engaging communications internally that achieve measurable impact.
  • Provide motivational leadership to a core team of 4/5, ensuring a highly effective team culture and continuous professional development.
  • Ensure robust measurement and evaluation of key campaigns in order to drive ongoing improvements and deliver against set goals and outcomes.

About you

  • Outstanding stakeholder management skills with a proven ability to operate in an advisory capacity to C-suite executives. An ability to influence and build support for the internal communications strategy and execution.
  • Deep experience of change communications, with strong knowledge of how to affect transformation and culture change in a complex and fast-moving organisation.
  • Experience in a regulated sector would be ideal, preferably financial services but not essential.
  • Demonstrable project management skills and judgement, with the ability to operate effectively under pressure.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with a flair for writing engaging copy.
  • Experience leading and inspiring a team to achieve desired outcomes within internal communications and engagement.
  • Outstanding knowledge of employee engagement theory, as well as progressive ways to involve colleagues both face-to-face, and using digital technologies.
  • High degree of resilience and ability to navigate ambiguity.

Interview process

The interview process will be 2 stages including a competency and behavioural-based interview, along with an assessment task.

Working Schedule

We are based in Bristol, BS1 5HL. This role is permanent, full time, 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday. For this role we offer a hybrid flexible working pattern to enable you the option of working from home and coming into the office 2-3 days per week.
