Applicants will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of compiling and delivering individual plans or schemes of work to develop positive emotional health and wellbeing. The post will also require the ability to enthuse students to be excited about their own learning and personal journey. There will be a strong focus on teamwork, and successful candidates will have a good understanding of how behaviour impacts on learning, what strategies can be used to improve behaviour, levels of engagement and the raising of attainment. Successful applicants will be articulate and reflective practitioners who can independently problem-solve the wide variety of challenges that will be presented to them.
You will possess excellent communication skills, at all levels, along with the ability to engage constructively with and relate to, a wide range of young people from different backgrounds, with sometimes complex needs. It is essential that you have the skills to build and maintain trusting, positive relationships with students. You will advocate for the student and their families, some of whom may present significant challenge to your problem-solving skills. As an effective Keyworker, you will need to succeed in finding sustainable resolutions, to conflict situations, facilitating reflective sessions to maximise the potential for functional behaviours.
Working at The Bridge School can be challenging but brings a great deal of professional and personal satisfaction. No two days are the same. The Key Worker post requires a flexible approach, which can support students, families and contribute positively to the wider development of The Bridge School. This post is suited to a highly energetic, self-motivated and dynamic personality.
The Key Worker will help bridge the gap between learning and behaviour through tailored packages of intervention; work closely with teaching staff to identify and provide appropriate emotional and academic support; promote positive future outcomes for students by raising aspirations; and work collaboratively with young people, families, schools and outside agencies.
This is an evolving post that will respond to the developing needs of the students, school and community. You will therefore be required to evaluate the specific needs of the role and subsequently create support plans reflective of these. Although part of a supportive team, you will be accountable for finding solutions that are bespoke to your caseload. As such, you will need to be creative and independent. The ability to bring additional skills to team, within the area of emotional health and well-being would be a desirable asset.
Informal discussions with the Head of Student Welfare, and visits to the school are welcome. These can be arranged by contacting Renata Squire
