TEACHER WITH DEPUTY SENCO RESPONSIBILITY (£32,916 - £51, SEN (£2,787). FULL-TIME PERMANENT POSITION – TEACHERS PAY AND CONDITIONS. COMMENCEMENT as soon as possible

The Bridge School is a KS3 & KS4 Pupil Referral Unit. KS3 students, receive intervention and development programs, focussed on reintegration or transition. KS4 students attend The Bridge School as part of a wider Alternative Provision timetable, challenging them to achieve appropriate accreditation in line with their abilities, and preparing them for their next steps post 16.

The school is looking for a competent and enthusiastic teacher with SEND experience, who can deliver a variety of subjects and who will ensure all youngsters develop skills and knowledge in line with their abilities and potential. You will have the ability to fire up the motivation and engagement of our young people and lead them in the direction that builds a love for learning, and meaningful accreditation.

The successful applicant will have resilience, personality and skills to engage and develop students, who may have struggled within their previous educational settings. You will be keen to identify specific strengths or barriers to learning, implementing innovative and creative strategies to remove these barriers, and invigorate participation. You will be expected to provide valuable accredited pathways which reflect individual student competencies from Foundations Level, to in most cases GCSE.

Importantly, this member of the staff team will be expected to, and required to, deliver and develop other areas of the curriculum, being responsive to the emerging needs and profile of the school. Therefore, willingness or experience in teaching wider curriculum areas would be highly desirable.

You will have skills and personality to develop strong, professional and sustainable relationships with students, being positive, calm, resilient, consistent and reliable. You will be a visible participant in a team approach. Your individual and group management and communication skills need to be of a high competency. This specific post has core lesson intervention responsibilities whilst supporting PSHE and Art, Food Technology, and enhancing the daily development of student's social, emotional and mental health needs. You will work closely Teacher Assistants and Key Workers to support each individual student assigned to you. In addition to this, the post requires a close working relationship with the SENCO working on EHCP applications, annual reviews, identification of SEND needs via assessments and other SEND related activities.

This is a fantastic opportunity to develop teaching, and the individual students, within a small school setting, and to have a significant impact on the life outcomes of the young people in our care.

You should note that, if successful you will be required to obtain a satisfactory Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Check or Enhanced DBS Check for Regulated Activity (formerly Criminal Records Bureau). Further information about DBS checks can be found at
