About us

The Black Bear is a family-run pub located on the banks of the River Avon in the bustling town of Tewkesbury. We pride ourselves on offering the highest quality real ale to our customers, as well as providing an exceptional environment for the community to come together and enjoy the great atmosphere we strive to create. We achieve this by hosting live music every weekend, featuring bands from various backgrounds, as well as other community events throughout the week. Our prime objective is to bring as many people together as possible while serving the highest quality products.

Role Description

Creating this environment begins with our wonderful staff. As a bar supervisor, you will be there to assist any customers from the minute they walk into the pub and especially when it's time for a drink You will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the pub while upholding the principles mentioned above. We are looking for driven, friendly, and diligent team members who can manage their shifts to achieve our goals. Even if you don't have prior experience in the hospitality industry, this could be your entry into this beautiful field. We encourage anyone who feels this role would suit them to apply.

  • We provide training and development to all our staff.
  • If hired we will first employ you as a member of Bar Staff with an hourly rate of £12.30. We will begin training you immediately in order to ensure that you that you are up to standard, at which point you will be moved up to the base wage of £13.30 per hour. In addition to this we have a quarterly bonus scheme based on your performance which gives you the opportunity to earn an additional £5,500 a year. (The average bonus acheived was 11.38% on every hour worked).
  • Event-based bonuses: We host large events at The Black Bear, such as Christmas, New Year's Eve, Oktoberfest, Tewkesbury Live, and the European Football Championship on the big screen Each of these events comes with a respectable bonus.
  • Free meals while on shift: We ensure that you are well-fed, with a free meal provided by our guest caterers for shifts lasting over 6 hours.
