Due to growth, we are looking to expand our team of technical SEO consultants.

  • Salary
    : £45,000-£60,000 (full time, depending on ability)
  • Start Date
    : From November 2025
  • Location
    : Remote with office days in London. We currently meet at least monthly and are likely to increase this. Applicants should be based within a comfortable commuting distance of central London.
  • Contract
    : Full or part time (at least 24hrs per week).

The Role

As an
SEO Consultant
, you will play a pivotal role in shaping strategies and delivering impactful results for our clients and Merj. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Driving client strategy
    : Take ownership of client strategy, creating and executing strategies that fuel measurable growth.
  • Resolving technical challenges
    : Identifying, prioritising, creating proof of concepts and implementing solutions for technical issues that affect organic search performance.
  • Building strong relationships
    : Work directly with client SEO, marketing, and technology teams to foster long-term, honest, and productive relationships.
  • Managing projects
    : Overseeing timelines, expectations, and deliverables with accountability.
  • Leveraging data at scale
    : Applying data engineering techniques to unlock insight and power research and client deliverables.
  • Innovating with Merj
    : Contributing to research and development to help with internal tools, products, services, and marketing initiatives.
  • Sharing expertise
    : Actively sharing knowledge and experience with clients and the Merj team to promote growth and collaboration.

Required Skills & Experience

  • 3-5 years of experience in technical search, with at least 1.5 years at a reputable agency.
  • Experience working with Enterprise customers (i.e. £20M+ annual revenue, FTSE, NASDAQ, 500+ employees). You will have worked with developers and digital marketers on projects which have led to increases in their important metrics (revenue, users, visibility, etc).
  • Good knowledge of all elements of search optimisation, particularly technical and on-page, but also off-site, and an ability to balance SEO asks with user experience.
  • Merj has a particular focus on
    technical SEO
    , so while we do seek well rounded SEO's, your knowledge and experience of areas such as crawling, rendering, performance, site architecture, server log analysis, content management systems, front end frameworks, and dealing with complex and large websites will be the litmus test.
  • Familiarity with SEO and analytics platforms and tools such as Botify, Screaming Frog, Google Search Console, Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Analytics, Adobe Experience Cloud, Looker Studio, Grafana, etc.
  • Experience with at least two different enterprise content management systems. You should understand the benefits and drawbacks of each.
  • Web coding experience in HTML and CSS.
  • High standard of written and spoken business English.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of Python, TypeScript/JavaScript.
  • Experience writing for leading digital journals about organic search, speaking at conferences, and contributions to Open Source projects.
