Whipps Cross Hospital serves a frail population and is being developed as a centre for Geriatric medicine.Main DutiesAs part of the development of Whipps Cross as a centre for frailty, the hospital has been a centre of excellence for fragility fracture care. You will contribute to the transformation of both the hospital and care pathways, working to provide gold‑standard care for frail elderly patients and other orthopaedic patients with fragility fractures.You must hold full registration with the GMC and be on the Specialist Registrar or within 6 months of obtaining CCST.About usBarts Health is one of the largest NHS trusts in the country and a leading provider of health care services. Our vision is to be a high‑performing group of NHS hospitals, renowned for excellence and innovation, and providing safe and compassionate care to patients in east London and beyond.Person SpecificationQualificationsMust be on the GMC specialist register for Geriatric Medicine or within six months of CCTFull GMC Registration with licence to practiceEvidence of participation in research (peer‑reviewed publications, etc.)Appropriate higher degree (e.g., MD, PhD or equivalent)ExperienceHigher specialist training in Geriatrics and G(I)MedicineBroad experience in Geriatrics and G(I)MCurrent ALS certificateAbility to organise and deliver a teaching programmeExperience in Service DevelopmentKnowledgeDetailed knowledge of Geriatrics and G(I)M and of the specialist skills required for this postKnowledge of multidisciplinary clinical audit and demonstrable commitment to improving quality of care to patientsUnderstanding of modern medical curricula and commitment to life‑long learningSkillsAbility to work as part of a multi‑disciplinary teamExperience of supervising medical staffAbility to teach medical students and junior medical and nursing staffAbility to communicate effectively with colleagues, patients, relatives, GPs, nurses and other agenciesOthersFlexible and co‑operative approach to colleaguesSelf‑motivated with an enquiring, critical approach to workGood leadership skillsEnthusiasm and ability to work under pressureWillingness to undertake additional professional responsibilities at local, regional or national levelPrepared to live within 10 miles or 30 minutes of Whipps Cross HospitalDisclosure and Barring Service CheckThis post is subject to the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (Exceptions Order) 1975 and requires a Submission for Disclosure to the Disclosure and Barring Service to check for any previous criminal convictions.#J-18808-Ljbffr
